The results are in: The B Fund's 3rd Annual Halloween Candy Drive was a huge success! Over 2,000 participants donated over 40,000 pieces of Halloween candy, which allowed The B Fund to raise $11,500 for Boston Children’s Hospital and contribute to their efforts to support families caring for critically ill patients. This is almost DOUBLE what we collected last year!
What does this exactly mean?
This means this year we were able to create a total of 1,520 bags of candy (sorted for allergies) for families, patients and the staff at Boston Children’s Hospital. Each bag contained 20 pieces of candy and a special note prepared by one of the participants. A large percentage of these notes were created by children, so it was an amazing opportunity to explain exactly how and who they were helping, while giving them an opportunity to express their support and/or gratitude through creativity. Notes for families and patients contained words of encouragement: You can do it! We believe in you! You are brave! Notes for the staff contained words of gratitude: You are amazing! Thank you for all you do! Patients are lucky to have you! Not only were we able to provide individualized messages and support to patients and staff at Boston Children’s Hospital this year, but with additional businesses and schools participating as drop-off locations, we were able to spread the word about our mission and create dialogue amongst families and children about the need for more people to donate their time, talents and treasures for the common good.
As we evaluate our efforts this year and digest the feedback we received, it is always important for us to take a minute to say Thank You to all who participated and all who help The B Fund and its mission. It is so important for us all to Be Brave; for us all to Be Generous; and for us all to Be Kind. And this year, this being our 3rd Annual Halloween Candy Drive, we can say with conviction that we were so proud and grateful for how people, both young and old, made this a meaningful success. We can’t wait to see what we can do next year!
