Meet our runner.......

The Boston Marathon is less than TWO months away! Did you know The B Fund will have two runners on Boston Children’s Hospital Miracle for Miles team? Needless to say we are thrilled to have this opportunity and will be on-site cheering on all the runners come Marathon Monday. Recently, we were able to encourage both of our runners to share why they wanted to join our growing group of brave, compassionate individuals committed to shining a light on families in need.

Nathan Strik of Weston, MA tells us why he is running the marathon for The B Fund and their efforts to support families caring for critically ill children at Boston Children’s Hospital.

The B Fund is an organization close to my family’s heart. My friends started the organization after they lost their son who was born with life threatening illnesses. Through The B Fund, they encourage children and families to participate in movements that empower children to understand the charitable impact their time, talents and treasures can have on families caring for critically ill children at Boston Children’s Hospital. Boston Children’s Hospital had an incredible impact on them and continues to impact so many families, including mine.

I am running the marathon as part of the Miles for Miracles Team and that is what I hope to accomplish. I will run 26.2 miles in the hope that more miracles will continue to be realized for children and families being cared for at Boston Children’s. My son was born with a cataract and other vision complications 8 years ago. After having the cataract surgically removed at Boston Children’s and continuing his ongoing care there, I see the miracles and life-changing work being done there first-hand. I know how instrumental it is in both the lives of children and the lives of their families.

And so it is for them that I run. Because I know I will be challenging myself on April 18, 2016, but my pain and my struggle on that day will not compare to what so many patients at Boston Children’s endure and overcome.

Consider supporting these efforts. Any amount donated is appreciated. I may be doing the running but we can all make a difference! Thanks in advance. – Nathan
